Andrea (in progress)
This is a hyper-realistic portraiture in progress of Andrea Michelle Edge. I chose this picture to symbolize her seriousness but prideful personality. This (series) originated from my SallyKate picture (later in my blog) due to my discovery of being able to work with colored pencils on portraits. I have always struggled with the concept of layering and thanks to Austin Decker I am closer to understanding the concept.
Losa (in progress)
This is a Hyper-realistic portraiture of my sister and her college roommate. Their expressions show their fun, happy, and playful attitudes. My sister (on the right) and her roommate (on the left) both expressed their admiration for my colored pencil work from the beginning of this year and i decided that it would be a good thing to do as a gift for two people in my life who are such good people and influences on the people around them.
Eye of Nature
This Piece is planned to go towards my breadth category for my Ap Studio Art portfolio. This represents how the earth and nature supports life. When you look around it is easy to see in black and white negatively but when you can see things in a different aspect the world becomes much more beautiful.
Dark Horse
This picture was the turning point in my art (career) I never knew that time and patience could produce suck quality work. From second grade up until this I would somewhat rush all of my pictures which led me to see that in my result. I never found happiness and pride in my art until this picture and since then I have found out that art takes time and patience.
Gorilla
This picture followed the horse that I had a revelation over. In those few weeks I found a new passion/direction in my artwork and all I wanted to do was create art. I liked the seriousness and contrast in the dark blacks to the brighter whites. This picture represents how I feel in the morning when I don't feel like waking up.
Inked Lion
This lion I would have to say could be considered my first attempt at mixed media. This includes sharpie, pen, fountain pen ink, and colored pencil. I had the sketch originally but I just didn't know what to do with it so late on night I started throwing color down with ink cartrages which led to what it is now.
Bearded Man (in progress)
This was experimentation with watercolor pencils which soon led me to putting colored pencil over it because I liked the composition of his hair. I plan to add stuff in for his face along with around him. This experimentation also led to another piece of art that you can see later in my blog.
SallyKate 1
I consider this picture to be my first successful portrait. This is SallyKate. This was experimentation to see weather or not I could accomplish a portrait to capture concepts of art as well as being able to portray features on a humans face to make it resemble the subject.
SallyKate 2
This is the same person as the previous picture just with color and a two years difference in both my art concepts and her age. I found peace and enjoyment understanding that I pertained the skills to be able to accomplish such a feat in my art techniques that has destroyed me for so long.
Snake (In progress)
This snakes creation came soon after the horse and the gorilla that you Have seen earlier in my blog. Hyper-realism gives me peace and a sense of accomplishment. although this piece is in progress from the beginning of last school year I have invested over 40 hours in this piece. I personally can't wait to see what it turns out to be.
Anastasia
This picture represents a huge feat dealing with my art techniques. Skin tones have always intimidated me, honestly colored pencil has always destroyed my confidence. Once I gained the knowledge from Austin and I did my research I wanted to give it a try. For my first picture I consider this an accomplishment but from here all i have tried to do and can do is progress.
Mauri Warrior (in progress)
This was the second piece in the bearded man collection. I wasn't exactly sure what to do with him so I went crazy. One of my many art teachers once told me some of my best work will come from me relaxing and loosening up on what I think is art. Most of his body happened by chance.
The Bay
This picture is one of my favorite personal paintings. It shows a skyline with sail boats in a bay that surrounds the city. I have always valued reflections that show in bodies of water from what surrounds it or even the objects that are in it. This experimentation was really fun and rewarding.
By The Sea (in progress)
This was a (commissioned) piece by my mom of the view close up of where water meets the shore. This is still in progress. I plan to add more layers or even begin to use palette knives to paint. This is oil paint. Scenery has always interested me to do art because I admire the color that this world is consumed in.
