What Art Means To Me

To me, art is an expression of emotion, feeling, as well as inspiration. Art has been a huge part of my life since the day my mom had introduced me taking art lessons when I was in second grade. up until last year  i had been enrolled in weekly art lessons. My journey through the mediums started with graphite, which soon advanced to pastels/oil pastels, which then went to watercolor, and then finally to acrylics/ oils paints. Working with any different mediums has increased my interest as well as my passion for many different forms and mediums of art. There are several reasons of making art which include exploration, adventure, inspiration, and practice so I can  reach my ultimate goal which is excellence. Several things are inspirations that light a spark in me to create art. Exploring different artists as well as their work is a first hand inspiration. Seeing the preliminary stages of my own art keep me going. To see something be converted from a white piece of paper to an expression of the message i am trying to convey in just the matter of time and patience is unbelievable. The satisfaction of seeing the final product is endless. Although by the time the work is done I am content, art is endless which makes it hard for me to be happy with it. There is no end to art along with  my passion to explore what else is out there. With this, I plan to major in art along with another major in design at Mercer University. Art is an endless expression that not only interests me, but as well as so many other people around the world.

Portfolio Cover (front and back)

This is my portfolio for the 2015-2016 school year. The front represents my liking and passion for music and the back of the portfolio may have been a little random but over this past year I have grown to be very fond of ducks in art work for an unknown reason. This was the beginning to a great year!

Grid Portrait

This is a picture of my friend at the time that focused on proportions as well as being able to see one thing and transfer it into different gradients or filters to create the same picture. The drawing was done over an inch grid while the medium was graphite. Although this was a long process I enjoyed it. The only thing that I disliked was the way that the face turned out in the end.

Color Theory (color wheel)

This is a modified representation of a color wheel. When I think of the color spectrum there is an infinite amount of color combinations to make certain colors. This means that is a smooth or free flowing representation of color change, this is why I chose to represent it in a free flowing state through water coming out of a water hydrant. In a black and  white world as seen, color is desperately  needed.

One Point Perspective

This is a one point perspective pen drawing of a multiple bed room. This project was originally going to become the cart on a subway train, but sadly the dimensions didn't work right with my original design. I used artwork on canvases to fill the blank space while at the same time adding details that applied to the one point perspective art rule.
